Listen to The Rolling Stones Radio on iHeartRadio

The Rolling Stones are remembering the late Bobby Womack.  The classic rockers honored the soul legend during their concert Saturday in Werchter, Belgium, with Mick Jagger explaining they'd just learned earlier in the day that Womack had passed away.

Prior to the show the Stones also posted a website message acknowledging Womack, admitting he was "a huge influence" on the group.  The band praises Womack "a true pioneer of soul and R&B, who's voice and songwriting touched millions."  They say Bobby's stage presence "was formidable" and "his talents put him up there with the greats." The Stones add that they will also "remember him, first and foremost, as a friend."

Womack, who in recent years had suffered from a number of ailments including colon cancer and early signs of Alzheimer's disease, died Friday at the age of 70.
